The Siberian (Amur) Tiger (Panthera tigris altaica) is the largest cat in the world and also the rarest (estimates range between 400 to 500 creatures remaining). Living primarily in the east Russian birch forests, their numbers have been decimated due to over foresting, trophy hunting and poaching especially for body parts used in traditional, Chinese medicine.
I love the expression of this Tiger. Was just showing my friend today and properly caught it. It is just like my cat when she being proud. Such a beautiful and elegant creature. Truly horrific that the are endangered, especially as their bones actually hold no medicinal value and their fur is vulgar as decoration. Lovely painting though Your amount of detail is amazing.
thx so much for the kind words! yes, such an amazingly beautiful creature, it would be devastating loss if they were to become extinct. This piece took a long time to finish, the detail in the fur is all the work of my trusty triple zero brush!
